Blog Log #2: Hands Free Mama

I have learned so much from Rachel Macy Stafford’s first book, Hands Free Mama:  A Guide to Putting Down the Phone, Burning the To-Do List, and Letting Go of Perfection to Grasp What Really Matters!  I have posted about this in my first blog,, so this is nothing new, but I love this book so much I wanted to write about it again in my Blog Log series.  This is a book to take your time with and reflect upon (started as a blog and was so successful, she turned it into book form).  If you have ever felt like you are a mom that just walks around too stressed, having too much negativity because of your to-do list, and you bring it to your kids, this is a great place to start to learn how to let go and focus on what really matters:

As Rachel says in her “About Hands Free” page:

This blog is for anyone who wants to re-think how he or she is living (or not living) life. It’s for anyone who wants to let go of daily distraction and perfection to embrace what really matters.

This was a great resource for me as a mom.  I mean, I wasn’t walking around like Grumpy from the Seven Dwarfs, but I also wasn’t always happy with how I was behaving and feeling.  And, that’s not to say I no longer need improvement, but I would say I am 20% better than I was before, so hey, that’s an improvement!  And it’s a journey, right?  Life?  2:07, sing it Steven!

Now, if you’re not a mom, or if your kids are grown, Rachel has a new book out (September 2015) that’s less specific towards moms and parents-  Hands Free Life:  Nine Habits for Overcoming Distraction, Living Better, and Loving More.  Haven’t read it, but I intend to.  Doesn’t that title sound fantastic??  Who doesn’t want that????  And who doesn’t think they could use a bit more of what she calls a Hands Free Life??

Check out her website to get a taste:

Have you read either?  What do you think?  Have you found a different book or blog that has helped you live life fuller?
