10 Tips for Enjoying The Last Two Weeks of Summer

Sharing is caring!

The only constant is change, as they say. You can’t stop the clock from ticking, unfortunately!

Here are 10 Tips for Enjoying the Last Two Week of Summer:

10 Tips For Enjoying The Last Two Weeks Of Summer www.theshortesttallman.com

  1. Plan 2 day trips, one for each week. Unless of course your big summer vacay is at the end of the season, in which case, live it up! A little change of scenery can go a long way, especially for you wanderlust-ers.
  2. Visit The Great New York State Fair! Or if you are reading from too far away from Syracuse, NY, surely you’ve got a fair near you. This is fair season, at least in the Northeast!
  3. Do something that is very summer- smores, go out for dinner or drinks someplace that has an outdoor space, spend a day on a boat or a beach… Even if you really are looking forward to Fall, we all know the reality of our long winters, so do some real summery stuff at the end here, so you’ll feel like you’ve fully taken advantage of the hot season.
  4. Have a coffee date with a friend, and again, preferably dine al fresco!
  5. Unplug, for crying out loud! Is there an app you can’t live without? Well, try. At the very least, schedule in time for it, and stick to it without checking all the time. When you’re spending time with the people you care about in late August, before things get crazy again, really focus on your relationships. The best thing I ever did was to delete the Facebook app from my phone. I knew I had a problem when I would check Facebook again and there were no new stories…
  6. Look into ways for simplifying your life. Are you not great at having meals ready to go? Maybe a meal planner is the way to go. For me, I came up with a template for every week- Mondays are pasta, Tuesdays are tacos, etc. Mail and paperwork a disaster? Remembering last school year, did you find that clutter from paperwork and “stuff” was suffocating? Think about ways you can organize yourself so you start off on the right foot. Maybe a command center http://thehappyhousie.porch.com/20-fabulous-command-centers-to-get-your-life-completely-organized/ is something you want to invest in? Basically, think about how you can simplify your processes, to prevent as much stress as possible as you head into the busy season with kids!
  7. Plan a fall trip. It’s always positive to have something to look forward to! Maybe a hike on Bald Mountain, or a wine tour, or a trip to NYC or Boston is in order. Then of course there’s Salem, what better fall destination is there than where “witches” once lived?! haha. These are just ideas that are within a reasonable distance to my locality; what fall trips might work for you?
  8. WOHM (work outside of the house mom)? Consider either a housekeeper or a mother’s helper to come over. I gave up my housekeeper to save the money while I’ll be at home, but there is nothing better than having your house cleaned while you are at work, and then coming home to a clean house. My housekeeper’s schedule was for every other Friday, so coming home on a Friday afternoon to a clean house was such a relaxing feeling! Remember that of all your resources, your time is the most precious.
  9. Summer clearance sales! Need I say more? I’ll be on the hunt for 3T boys summer clothes for sure. While we’re talking about retail therapy, treat yourself to a new accessory that will make you feel good. You don’t have to spend a lot of money; sometimes just having something fresh is all you need to feel extra special. Great time for a visit to The Topping Tree!
  10. Squeeze in one more book, and drink it with your iced coffee!

Enjoy it before it’s all over! There is so much to look forward to in Fall and Winter, but Summer just has a timbre all its own, so soak it in while you can!

What would you add to the list?

    Dear Shortest Tallman,
For teachers, I would also recommend weeping daily into a pillow, binge eating, & online compulsive shopping!😂
